Snetterton

Not such a successful Race Weekend.
After a thrilling weekend at Pembrey I was geared up and ready for Snetterton.
On Saturday I qualified 4th on the grid and felt confident I would do well, however, this wasn’t to be! I had a good start but into the 2nd corner Christine Holmes span and in doing so hit the front of my car damaging the radiator. Not wanting to damage the car anymore, I had to pull over and didn’t complete a lap. I was gutted, in fact what made matters worse was that Christine’s car was still driveable and she was able to finish the race!
Not disheartened by the previous day’s result, in Sunday’s Qualifying, up until the 2nd to last lap I was 3rd on the grid. However, I was pushed down to 5th place Christine Holmes and Jenny Grace putting in a couple of flying last laps. As our race approached the clouds rolled in and the rain came down. None of us had experienced the Caterhams in the wet and were nervous of the pending ‘wet race’. Due to several crashes in the race before, the rain had time to stop and a dry line started to appear. We grouped on the grid and I had another good start, not accelerating too hard and causing any wheel spin in the damp conditions. For almost the entire race I was fighting for 3rd place with Emily Fletcher, each lap we were changing places, both pushing each other to the limit. With only a few laps left Emily over took me into the hairpin but coming out came off the dry line and had massive over steer fish tail incident. Not wanting to hit her (I had flash backs from the day before!) I swerved out of the way but in doing so hit the wet stuff and span onto the grass, noooooo! As I crawled off the grass the rest of the pack went past, I couldn’t believe it, this was turning into my worst weekend ever! I quickly caught the pack up and worked my way up to 11th place where for the remaining few laps fought with Christine Holmes for 10th Place. I finished 11th. Although I didn’t really have a successful weekend racing, I did learn a lot and experience only comes with practice.
